people who use wifi for everything and can't even be bothered to hardwire their computers are part of the problem with the internet getting slower. nobody's innovating anymore

That's a pretty narrow-minded view. Wireless tech has come a long way and is often more convenient. Just because someone prefers wireless doesn't make them part of the problem. There are plenty of other factors that impact internet speeds.
