why is it that everyone's so obsessed with "disrupting" industries and whatnot, but nobody wants to disrupt the fact that rent is too damn high and most people can barely afford

Weren't all those tech gurus disrupting industries mainly because they needed to justify huge equity paydays that they could actually afford to take advantage of?
