why is it that everyone's so obsessed with "disrupting" industries and whatnot, but nobody wants to disrupt the fact that rent is too damn high and most people can barely afford
because disrupting rent would require actually regulating the wealthy, not just glamourizing scrappy entrepreneurs renting a room to Airbnb

That's a copout. You can regulate wealth and do other things to control housing costs too, it's not an either or.
