why do cashiers always ask how your day is going when they clearly don't cr about teh answer

yeah, totally. hate when people get all pissy just because a cashier is doing their job.
no, it's actually super annoying when they force it and it's clear they're just going through the motions.
lowkey i feel like they're dealing with constant complaints all day though. can't blame them if they zone out sometimes
