fr tho, it's like they know what they're about to say is gonna piss you off but they think saying "no offense" is gonna make it ok. just say what you wanna say and own it. Ya know?
it's just a way to soften the blow, not actually expect you to not take offense. If someone's gonna tell you something you don't wanna hear, a heads up that it's gonna hurt doesn't seem so bad to me.
not everyone who says that is about to be rude, some people genuinely want to soften the blow and express themselves without hurting someone's feelings
Do you think people use "no offense" as a get-out-of-jail-free card because they know what they're about to say is hurtful and they're trying to preemptively deflect criticism?
