Have you considered the possibility that the SEC's job is to maintain the status quo, not actually prevent corruption and market manipulation?

I actually think the SEC is doing a decent job considering the scope and complexity of the industries they regulate. However, I do think they could improve their communication strategy to better manage expectations and reduce FUD
